Sometimes a developer needs photos of a project during the construction phase. Photos like these can be used in marketing materials to show the actual action of constructing a building. Here are some photos of The Catherine, a luxury apartment complex currently under construction in Austin, Texas.
The status of the project limited the photography potential to just a few angles, but I still wanted to see if I could get something a bit more creative.
The photo below was created near sunset and with the use of a neutral density filter that blocked the light coming in to the lens, allowing for a much longer than normal exposure. This technique results in smooth clouds and a generally more interesting photo. It also has the benefit of rendering the people on the volleyball court near the bottom left invisible.
